Vibrant Downtown Los Angeles Couples Session

Sarah and Matt just celebrated their 3 year dateaversary, and these DTLA vibes gave me LIFE! We started the session with so much energy on this beautifully lit rooftop garage overlooking LA, and ended the night in the bright neon glow of Grand Central Market – but not before getting a little cinematic in front of Million Dollar Theatre on our way over – complete with a Hollywood-worthy dip-kiss. (Seriously, scroll on down, and be amazed at their flexibility and poise.)

I met these cuties at Darby and Michael’s destination wedding this summer, and seeing their dynamics together made it hard not to have a big grin on my face. To be around them is to see genuine, hopeful, uplifting love.

The small nuances in their expressions and in the ways they shared their story with me stuck with me long after this session was over, and it makes their photos feel even more special to me (more on that here).

For this session, I knew I wanted to use more movement and color and experiment more with different lighting situations, but ultimately, these things weren’t my favorite part. These aren’t just portraits of a sweet couple. Because they were so open with each other and with me and willing to be present, these pictures feel personal. Stolen glances, soft snuggles, arms safely holding, laughter and movement warming up their whole faces.

When I delivered their gallery, Sarah summarized what I want all of my couples to feel after a session with me:

“I can’t thank you enough, you really captured our relationship and fun loving spirits, and it was so fun! Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and chill and hot at the same time!”

And if you’re still reading this, stop and go see how fun and hot and chill these two are.
